Great detail Theo!!!

It will be interesting to see which of the prospects take a step forward this year. My hope is most of the D-men develop in Rockford. Although, I am guessing injuries will make it that Beaudin, Mitchell and Kalynuk end up playing much more on the big club than I wish. Just hope they can develop should that happen and that it doesn't stall their development.

Nice recap of the Hawks prospects Theo, much appreciated. I think that Stan still has a move or two up his sleeves, which in turn should add another prospect or two. While I don’t see any elite talent on this list, I do see a little more young talent than in previous years.

Thank you, Theo.
Hoping a couple of these guys far outperform projections and change the trajectory of the Blackhawks return to the top echelon of the league!

I still can't believe how Bowman just flipped the entire defense in less than 2 years. The only player remaining is Murphy.

Thanks Theo - Did Ogi provide the Russian players outlook for you? If not, I think you proved his point very well (at least with the goalies). Most Russian players will eventually go back and play at home.

Great write-up, Theo, but this can't possibly be correct...you don't have all our prospects listed as top line forwards, top pair dmen or starting goalies.

Conversely, you don't have all our prospects listed as busts.

I know from reading this message board that one or the other is definitely true!

Theo, why did you put Kurashev in the Icehogs' section? Do you just think there are too many forwards ahead of him, and with being waiver-exempt, he will at least start in Rockford?

Also, The Athletic did a 2018 re-draft, and they picked Kurashev at #25. I think Bowman has drafted well in the later rounds over the last few years.

This was great info, Ted. I wish I had more Icehog access, because I'd key-in on a few of these names. I'm still excited about a good portion of these guys. Fingers crossed for Hagel & Barratt to be on a line together soon.

That is likely accurate that Kalynuk, Mitchell, and Beaudin play with the Hawks at some point or another this season due to injury, illness, or COVID protocol.

While it would be nice if de Haan could stay healthy for a full season, it seems inevitable that he won't which carves an opening for a youngster.

Then there are others who don't think it's a lock for Caleb Jones or even Stillman to crack the starting lineup and may create additional spots.

Agree, while quality of prospects as far as top shelf talent may still be lacking, the quantity of prospects who can become viable NHLers is there and much improved.

There should be a diamond in the rough or two as well as a few high potential prospects who flop.

If I had to pick some prospects who could burst through and be really good ones for the Hawks, here's some to keep an eye on:

McLaughlin (C)
Stjernborg (C/W)
Wise (C)
Del Mastro (D)
Galvas (D)
Kaiser (D)
Soderblom (G)

I'm not enamored with any of the Russian prospects besides Altybarmakian. He's a keeper in my book. I surmise he'd be a fan favorite if given the chance to play his game at the NHL level.

All the other Russian prospects are a big pile of meh, blah, and

Even if they did get a cup of coffee in the U.S. pros, they'll defect back home as quickly as they got here seeking greener pastures. Kayumov is the only maybe.

I have Kurashev starting in Rockford due to a sheer numbers game but not staying down there very long especially if Toews is touch and go.

You are correct, though, that he is waiver exempt so that could play a factor as well. It also wouldn't hurt to get a few games playing 1st line in the AHL.

Hagel, Barratt, and Altybarmakian or even Slaggert would be a killer 3rd line down the road. All are puck hounding shift distrubers who can also generate offense without sacrificing defense.

Couple them with a future 4th line of Entwistle, Hardman, and Slavin and that could be a rather effective bottom 6. Let them grow now at the right rate so they can be better for it in the long run.

Theo, you've mentioned Wise a couple times now as a prospect to watch going forward. What did he do to warrant this newfound confidence? He's been rather disappointing overall.

Sources reporting that Jimmy Hayes (Kevin's older brother and former Blackhawk) has died at the age of 31. Very sad news.

I recall reading reports that Wise does show well when he does play but for whatever reason wasn't getting the ice time at Boston U hence his transfer to Ohio State.

Also, he was deemed one of the most skilled at past prospects camps and isn't just an offensive sideshow but dedicates himself to a full 200-foot game.

Coaches also rave about his maturity and humility.

It also didn't hurt that he's been skating a lot this summer with Toews, Murphy, and now Buffalo-bound Hinostroza.

Wise could still fall short in the end but he has some factors trending in his favor if he can just capitalize on this new lease on life for his senior year of college.

This is worse than anything talked about in the Blackhawks organization. Should not be a misdemeanor for the coaches if they knew.

Theo. Thanks for the time you put into sharing all this information. Your work ethic is top notch and you keep the content rolling. Great job!

It was interesting but not unexpected to see Ian Mitchell's name coming up often in the info you shared from the Hawks. Seems likely that Mitchell was a part of why the Hawks were willing to part with Boqvist. I am curious to see what he brings to the table when camp rolls around.

I'm excited to see what the Hawks can do with this roster and with a healthy Toews back in the fold. I know there are questions about his return, but I look back to the video Toews shared on June 30th and all he did was talk about his issues being past tense. He talked about being back in a normal routine. I think we might see him have a great year if he is truly past this issue that was a problem for a while. Sure he could have a setback, but I guess we have to wait and see.
